Have you ever wondered how to chalk paint a basket? Well look no further! A lot of french country looks require grey baskets. All we have are the dark brown ones so I decided to try painting the baskets with chalk paint to give it a rustic look and pray it did not chip off.
Basket before:
I used:
– Americana Decor Chalk Paint from Hobby Lobby in Primitive for the first coat and Yesteryear for the second coat
– A chip brush (they sell “vintage” look brushes at home depot for $10 that reminded me of a chip brush so I splurged on the $2 chip brush)
– Wet Paper Towel (because I am messy)
Technique I used:
– I used the “dry brush technique” then got impatient and mixed in both techniques. I started on the inside of the basket. Waited 5 mins for it to dry then finished the outside. I waited 30 mins before applying the Yesteryear on top.
I dipped the brush not paint the dabbed some off on the lid before painting the basket.
Start on the inside.
